Bourgogne Aujourd'hui # 82
Vincent and Sophie Morey speak out
Bernard Morey, a grower whose wines we have often had occasion to praise, spoke of the changing of the guard at the Morey domaine. "After working the domaine for forty-six years, it's time to pass on to the next generation the holding we received from  our parents." So the baton passed to his two sons, Vincent and Thomas, who have already devoted years of work to the domaine. They decided on a restructuring. In 2007, Vincent and his wife Sophie (who also comes from a wine-growing family) set up a domaine of some 20 hectares. They readily admit that choosing the right date for harvesting goes a long way to explain the well-structured wines of their first vintage. "It doesn't do to rush into the harvest," says Vincent. For the rest, why change a winning formula? The same working methods that spelt success for the Bernard Morey domaine, are still being followed.

Bâtard-Montrachet grand cru
Nose elegant, well-fruited (fragrances of white flowers and honey). In the mouth,  body and real depth. Overall, refinement and length. Simply a great cru.

Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru Les Caillerets
The nose develops a complex palette of aromas which features notes of fresh fruits, minerality, and a touch of toast. The mouth is succulent and well-balanced.

Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru Les Embrazées blanc
The nose offers a pleasing woodiness over notes of hazelnut and toast. Minerality makes itself felt soon after. The same with the mouth: the wine is fleshy and a fine woodiness brings out the best in it.
